Lufthansa Technik showcases upgrades from nose to tail for VIP, government and corporate aircraft at ABACE

At this year's Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE) in Shanghai, Lufthansa Technik AG is showcasing solutions for individually upgrading the cabins of VIP, government and corporate aircraft with the latest technologies. The portfolio extends from interior design and convenience options to in-flight entertainment systems to operational and aircraft performance improvements.

Lufthansa Technik sees a growing market for upgrading mature aircraft, especially in the Asian region. "Design standards and technologies for the cabin often change faster than aircraft generations change," says Walter Heerdt, senior vice president VIP and special mission aircraft services. "So when our customers' business models change, Lufthansa Technik is the first address for improving their flying assets."

Connectivity is more than just a passenger experience and one of the highlights of Lufthansa Technik's portfolio featured at ABACE 2016. Lufthansa Technik is the first choice for installing latest satellite communication technology in VIP aircraft cabins.

Another highpoint of the various interior design, technology and convenience upgrade options for the aircraft presented in Shanghai is Lufthansa Technik's proprietary chair family of seating applications. chair offers a virtually unlimited range of possibilities for adapting cabin seating to the floorplan needs of aircraft owners. Other options include customized cabin layout changes, the installation of the highly adaptable floor path marking system GuideU CustomFit as well as the retrofit of showers and cabin mood lighting.

In the area of in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems, Lufthansa Technik has developed modular upgrades that range from high definition (HD) video distribution backbone installations and state-of-the-art monitor exchanges to full wireless cabin control (e.g. niceview mobile).

The retrofit drag-reducing and fuel-saving Split Scimitar Winglet for the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) is one of the new products related to the operation and performance of the aircraft. Cyclean Engine Wash and the highly flexible Fly Away Kit, offering the permanent availability of important spare parts for aircraft operations by stowing them right on board, are further options.

Lufthansa Technik also takes live cooking to the skies. The "induction cooking platform" opens up new opportunities for freshly preparing food on board and fits into any aircraft kitchen. The flying "DishwashAir", specially designed for washing dishes on commercial aircraft, is another feature for aircraft galley solutions.

What's more, Lufthansa Technik's Patient Transport Unit Next Generation (PTU NG) and Stretcher NG are part of Lufthansa Technik's holistic solutions for medical support and health on board.

These and other innovative concepts are presented at Lufthansa Technik's booth at the upcoming ABACE (Booth H115) in Shanghai, China, from April 12-14.
