Boeing Business Jets has secured six new orders, bringing the total number of aeroplanes sold to 108.

The sales mark a year of impressive growth for the company, which reported 97 aircraft sold at the same time last year. To date, 73 customers have ordered 95 BBJs and 13 BBJ2s. BBJ president Steven Hill said that the majority of these customers (about 40 per cent) are private individuals, and about 37 per cent are government heads of state.

"The continued sales momentum of the BBJ reflects the value customers place on the aeroplane's range capability, its industry-leading reliability and its spacious cabin," said Hill.

Following the announcement of the sales, Hill revealed that the company is considering developing a derivative of the 737-700C (Convertible), which will be known as the BBJ C. If launched,

the aeroplane will be convertible from passenger to cargo layouts in six hours.

"The aeroplane would provide the ultimate in flexibility and multi-purpose missions capability,"

said Hill. "It would be an ideal aeroplane for government heads of state or entrepreneurs."
