TAM AE unveils enhanced paint booth
The space has been completely modernised and now has new 3D design scanner and laser projection systems, including Virtek Iris 3D, which replaces the masking process and speeds up work by up to four times.

TAM Aviacao Executiva has opened its new painting booth, located at its service centre in Jundiaí, São Paulo. The company, which already had one of the largest and best equipped painting booths in Latin America, now also has the most modern booth, with advanced systems that increase work efficiency and, above all, speed up the painting process.

Completely renovated, the space has a series of upgrades such as a new lighting system that eliminates shadows and enables faithful colour reproduction; a laboratory for the detailed preparation of paints; effective sealing, which makes it difficult for particles to enter and allows for an excellent finish; and an efficient exhaust system with high filtration of expelled particles, reducing the environmental impact.

Also noteworthy is the exclusive Virtek Iris 3D system, in which it is possible to project the stripes on the aircraft fuselage in 3D, eliminating the masking process and speeding up the painting process by up to four times.

According to the director of the TAM Aviacao Executiva service centre, Wellington Amorim, the aircraft customisation segment is growing constantly in Brazil. He says: "The demand for painting services has increased considerably in the last three years. We have carried out several special projects, including personalised painting, thanks to the modern digital equipment we have acquired for our customers. Seeking new technologies and work optimisation is essential; therefore we have been working on a new booth for the last two years and now we have started services with the new systems."

Measuring 60m long, 28.5m wide and 9.50m high, the TAM AE paint booth is capable of serving all aircraft from Textron, including piston aircraft from the Cessna and Beechcraft brands, turboprops from the Caravan and King Air lines, and all jets from the Citation family; as well as several models from other manufacturers including ATR 72, Bombardier Challenger 600 and 300, Dassault Falcon 2000EX, Embraer Legacy 600 and Gulfstream G450.
