ACC Aviation achieves carbon neutral target
Customers are very aware of their carbon footprint, and ACC was inspired to roll out its own ambitious offsetting programme to become carbon neutral, and to provide carbon insights to clients ahead of charter.
Director of charter Richard Smith.

UK-headquartered aviation services group ACC Aviation has introduced a carbon offsetting programme in collaboration with Positive Planet.

The ambitious programme, already being rolled out across the organisation, integrates carbon offsetting plans for charter operations with comprehensive internal initiatives to reduce emissions from daily business activities. The plan sees ACC Aviation proactively reduce its carbon output, offset its current emissions, begin a tree planting initiative and become a Certified Carbon Neutral organisation. Thanks to Positive Planet's emissions travel calculator, ACC can provide a carbon insights report to clients ahead of any charter programmes, ensuring all parties are informed of the environmental impacts and empowered to make appropriate decisions.

"The push for responsible travel and environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors has become a big talking point at ACC. Plans to become a greener organisation are frequently discussed in our internal meetings. In the wider industry, airlines are rated higher by lessors, OEMs and airports if they have an ESG programme, and end-user customers are becoming more aware of their carbon footprint," says director of charter Richard Smith. "These past few months, we have studied various sustainability partners and determined Positive Planet best suited us. Its team understood our business and its portal is also easy to use."

Positive Planet, established in 2021 by co-founders Stephen Henry and Adam White, helps businesses and organisations to reduce their climate impact. Its Certified Carbon Neutral Accreditation programme enables businesses to start their journey to net zero.

"Aviation is responsible for nearly two per cent of global carbon dioxide emissions, so we are pleased to be working with ACC Aviation to help it minimise its carbon footprint and offset its emissions," says Henry. "Becoming a Certified Carbon Neutral aviation company is a significant step for ACC, and we encourage others in the sector to take equally ambitious steps."
