Cirrus grows footprint following strong 2021 performance
With 2021 deliveries numbering 86, the Vision Jet became the best-selling jet in personal aviation for the third year in a row. Cirrus looks back at a year of expansion, investment and customer attraction.
The Vision Jet has gained EASA and UK certification.

Cirrus Aircraft delivered 86 new Vision Jets in 2021, with the type becoming the best-selling jet in personal aviation for the third year in a row. The company also announced its G2+ Vision Jet, EASA and UK certification for its Safe Return Emergency Autoland, and expanded its Cirrus Services community and offerings. It also grew its US footprint for premium flight training, aircraft management, factory service and concierge customer experiences.

“Our team has accomplished incredible milestones this past year. Not only did we reach a 13 year high of new aircraft deliveries, but we also introduced new innovations within the Vision Jet and SR Series product lines and increased connectivity between pilot and aircraft by growing the Cirrus IQ ecosystem,” says CEO Zean Nielsen. "In 2022 we are continuing to invest in our people, products and services to constantly elevate the ownership experience.”

Since 2016 the Vision Jet has surpassed 330 deliveries, and more than 650 pilots have now earned their FAA type rating on it. Last year, in partnership with Garmin International, Cirrus received type certificate approval from EASA for its Vision Jet Safe Return Emergency Autoland, as well as UK certification. Additional country certifications will be announced as more G2+ Vision Jet deliveries are scheduled.

In July, the company released the G2+ Vision Jet with optimised engine performance for expanded mission capabilities, Gogo inflight wi-fi and new aesthetic options.

Its Cirrus Approach flight training programme provides a framework for pilots to continuously learn and engage. In 2021, it grew its 'Take offs and Landings' programme to 8,042 users, a 47 per cent increase, comprising primarily of pilots from the US, Australia and Germany.

Cirrus Embark, the complimentary transition training for new, pre-flown Cirrus Aircraft owners, welcomed 892 new customers over the course of the year with a 21 per cent increase in course completion.

The Cirrus IQ mobile app enables remote communication between the aircraft and pilot. The Tech Pubs and Find Us features were added in 2021 for an enhanced ownership experience, with over 750 aircraft and 2,000 users enrolled.

Additionally the company opened its doors to its new Chandler and McKinney innovation centres, ramping up engineering and technical services. Cirrus-owned flight training and service centres were opened in Greater Dallas and Greater Orlando, as well as a new third-party flight training and a service centre in Greater Phoenix.

Cirrus plans to expand production facilities and the innovation centre at its Minnesota HQ at Duluth airport. It has also acquired the assets of Benton Harbor, Michigan-based Flying Colors Aviation, to increase its paint production capabilities on a wide range of complex, custom graphics packages. The company plans to expand the current facility and is hiring experienced painters and detail personnel.
