Avionica unveils wireless aircraft interface device
An aircraft interface device connects and gathers aircraft flight data while protecting the aircraft from interference. The miniAID provides for secure wireless or wired connectivity to the electronic flight bags.

Avionica has revealed its latest product; the miniAID. It says operators have been asking for a cost-effective aircraft interface device to connect flight crew electronic flight bags to aircraft. The miniAID is an evolution of its miniQAR and avCM products.

“Our customers have been asking us to develop a product that minimises their total cost of ownership,” says Ed Gorman, VP of engineering. “We've focused on providing unparalleled value for the capabilities while using design thinking to almost eliminate the installation costs.”

The miniAID provides a service for wireless delivery of the aircraft data needed to optimise operations. It says for most current operators of the miniQAR, it is a simple plug and play replacement, otherwise installation costs have been kept to a minimum, with only four wires.
