Sparfell increases European footprint through Speedwings
Speedwings Business will focus on developing its FBO activities at Payerne airport through its new facilities, built in 2019 by Damien Piller's group. Sparfell and Speedwings will partner to develop the new Swiss airport.
Sparfell CEO Edward Queffelec, Speedwings owner Damien Piller and Sparfell chairman Philip Queffelec.

Swiss-based Sparfell has acquired Speedwings' air operator activities in Switzerland, Austria and France. Since 1988, Speedwings has been an operator for the Swiss light and mid-size jet charter market, expanding its offer of an Austrian AOC through a new French certificate in 2020.

Beyond its aircraft trading and leasing activities in Geneva and Washington, Sparfell returned to aircraft operations in 2019, with the acquisition from Niki Lauda of LaudaMotion Executive and its Austrian AOC.

Despite the pandemic, Sparfell has kept on track with its goal of a broader geographical presence and comprehensive aircraft type range. This latest acquisition enables it to operate a fleet of 27 aircraft through Austrian and French AOCs, ranging from light jets such as the Phenom 100 to midsize Praetor 600s and ultra long range types including the Gulfstream 650ER.

The company's purchase fits into Sparfell's strategy of offering a complete solution of services to their clients from Vienna and, now, from Geneva and Paris.

“We are very proud to have been chosen by Damien Piller, owner of Speedwings, to write a new chapter for this historical Geneva company. We particularly look forward to working closely with such professional teams with whom we have collaborated successfully and often in the past,” says Philip Queffelec, Sparfell chairman.

Speedwings Business will focus on developing its FBO activities at Payerne airport through its new facilities, including 6,600 sqm of aircraft hangars built in 2019 by Damien Piller's group. Sparfell and Speedwings Business will partner for the development of this new alternative airport in Switzerland.

“I am very happy with this new partnership that will not only secure a new step in the development of Speedwings' aircraft operations but will also dynamise our Payerne airport facilities' development,” says Piller.
