Waltzing Matilda sees revenues double following move
Waltzing Matilda Aviation has positioned itself as the largest light jet charter operator at Boston's primary corporate jet airport. Since its relocation to Hanscom Field at the end of last year it has seen revenues double.
One of the benefits of relocating to Hanscon Field is that WMA operates out of Signature's FBO.

Waltzing Matilda Aviation (WMA) is celebrating its first full year of operations at Boston's Hanscom Field/Bedford airport, having relocated its base operations there in December 2018. With its fleet of Cessna Citation Bravo and Excel aircraft, the company is now the largest light jet charter operator there. WMA has also recently relaunched its website.

Moving to Boston's primary corporate aviation airport has resulted in a number of benefits, the first being that it now operates out of the Signature Flight Support FBO. There are significant reductions in weather-related disruptions due to Bedford's ample runways and associated instrument approaches, and Bedford has one of the most efficient and responsive snow removal capabilities of any airport in the Boston region. There should also be lower costs to Boston-based customers as there are no repositioning costs, and the Boston area offers faster departures with more efficient integration into the airspace.

With its CBP facilities, Bedford is an international port of entry into the US, alleviating the need for unnecessary stops prior to returning into Bedford, and being based at a designated gateway airport for flights into Washington DC's airport, WMA plans to offer direct jet charter flights to Ronald Reagan Washington National airport.

CEO John Thomas says: “These benefits, along with the appointment of a full-time director of sales, have resulted in WMA more than doubling its annual charter revenues in 2019. WMA is now regarded as the 'go to' operator for light jet charter aircraft at Hanscom/Bedford airport. We are also very pleased to have attracted a wide range of new clients, including Boston professional athletes and leading academics, as well as broadening our network of corporate and private equity clients.”
