QTA inlet replacement barrel puts G280s into no-corrode mode
Since Quiet Technology Aerospace's carbon fibre inner barrel replacement programme began in 2015, it has installed more than 100 such barrels on 56 aircraft around the globe. It has now received an STC for the G280.

Quiet Technology Aerospace (QTA) has received STC approval for its sixth airframe specific carbon fibre engine inlet replacement barrel. This STC offers a solution for Gulfstream G280 operators over the issue of engine inlet cowl inner barrel corrosion on Honeywell HTF7250G engine inlets.

QTA now offers a lighter weight carbon graphite composite barrel that comes with a lifetime warranty alongside an aircraft's serial number. The launch customer for the inner barrels will instal the first completed ship set on their G280 by the end of March.

Other inner barrel corrosion affected airframes benefitting from QTA's state of the art engineering and carbon fibre manufacturing are the Learjet 60/60XR, Gulfstream G200, Hawker 1000, Falcon 2000LX/EX and Challenger 300/350 series.

Additionally, QTA has a low-cost inlet exchange programme that keeps aircraft free from extended AOG conditions. It can provide either exchange inlets or upgrade a complete set of inlet cowls in 15 days for the G280 aircraft, reducing operator downtime compared to alternative corrosion repairs.

Since the carbon fibre inner barrel replacement programme began in 2015, QTA has installed more than 100 carbon fibre inlet barrels on 56 aircraft around the globe. QTA CEO Barry Fine states: “With our sixth STC approval finalised for the Gulfstream G280 series, we now have a permanent and terminating corrosion fix for at least 2,000 aircraft around the world. That represents a very large amount of time and money saved to operators that have been continuously troubled by expensive and time consuming inner barrel corrosion issues on their original OEM inlet cowls. The carbon fibre inlet programme ensures our customers a safe, simple and quick experience when upgrading that is cost-efficient and final.”
