Pretoria, South Africa-based Skyhorse Aviation is to be a launch customer for Safe Flight Instrument Corporation's Powerline Detection System (PDS) for the Airbus Helicopters AS350. The PDS has been certified by EASA and the FAA under STC.

The system operates worldwide to detect 50Hz/60Hz power line frequency emissions. It weighs less than one kilogram and is a passive system that alerts the pilot when approaching an energised power line. It provides a visual and aural warning to the crew, and the aural tone intensifies as the pilot approaches nearer.

Skyhorse specialises in providing helicopter support and charter throughout Africa. Its fleet consists of eight new generation AS350 series helicopters and two Pilatus PC-6 fixed-wing aircraft.
