Finnish operator orders CL604 duo

Finland's Jetflite has placed an order for two brand-new Challenger 604s. The aircraft, which replace the company's Falcon 20F-5s, are scheduled for delivery in October and December.

NetJets primed for further expansion

NetJets Europe is set to increase the size of its fleet to 91 aircraft, following the delivery of 33 aeroplanes during 2005, including 10 Hawker 400XPs, a Falcon 900EX and a Gulfstream 550.

Business Express looks to Italy with CitationJet

Austria-based charter operator Business Express, formerly named Luftfahrzeug-Vermietungs-Dienst, has added a new aircraft to its charter fleet. It took delivery of a Citation 525 in November 2005 and began operating it in January. Cost was one of the primary reasons the company selected the aircraft type, according to md Guenther Matheis, but other factors also came into consideration.

Conditions are bright for Air Service Liege

A Citation 525 is the latest aircraft to join the fleet at Belgium-based operator Air Service Liege, and more aircraft are expected later on this year. A King Air 350 is due to arrive in April, followed by a CitationJet the following month.

Global XRS enters service in Europe

On December 6, oil transportation management firm Transneft became the European launch customer for Bombardier's Global Express XRS jet. Said Sergei Grigoriev, vp of OJSC AK Transneft: "We are impressed by the superb cabin, outstanding performance and sophistication of the new Global Express XRS.

Wessex Aerospace has purchased the entire inventory of Britten-Norman Islander and Trislander spare parts from Florida-based Jonas Aircraft & Arms, the Western hemisphere distributor of BN2 aircraft and spare parts.

Manhattan operates three Premier Is.

Manhattan launches block hour scheme with Premiers

Manhattan Jet Charter has announced plans to sell block hours for its Premier I aircraft, while continuing to operate an ad-hoc charter business. The company, which recently acquired two further aircraft - bringing its Premier I fleet tally to three - has already received approval for commercial operations and will be running a full service once its additional pilots have completed their training on the aircraft.

Socata's TBM 850 aims to compete with VLJs

EADS Socata has added the six-seat TBM 850 to its business turboprop range. The aircraft has already been awarded EASA certification and deliveries are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2006. The list price of the aircraft is a little over $2.5 million. The company states that a 'typical' version with customer options such as RVSM fitted, will cost almost $2.8 million.

Eagle Helicopters upgrades to Bell LongRanger

Having operated a Bell 206 JetRanger for 22 years, Eagle Helicopters has selected a LongRanger as its successor. The company acquired the aircraft in August and it became operational in January, 2006 "It's the most efficient small single engine helicopter that money can buy," said Martin Burgin, chief pilot and md of Eagle Helicopters. "It's a very smooth helicopter, is quicker and has 50 per cent more seats, so it really does make a difference."
