Rockwell Collins' Stage on demand total content delivery system being installed for first time in Africa

Rockwell Collins is working with ExecuJet Africa on the region's first installation of Stage on demand total content delivery system, as well as the first installation on a Bombardier Global aircraft, on behalf of launch customer Bestfly. Installation is targeted for completion by early June.

The installation also includes the region's first activation of Inmarsat' KA band Jet ConneX service to provide Bestfly passengers with the fastest onboard internet speeds available. Rockwell Collins is the service provider and a value-added reseller of JX connectivity as part of its ARINCDirect offering.

“We are proud to offer our customers a bundled solution through Rockwell Collins on the Stage/JX services and install as the first company in the region,” said Vince Goncalves, maintenance director at ExecuJet Africa. “We have worked with Rockwell Collins on a number of installations over the years, and this one is about to reach another successful conclusion.”

These new services will provide passengers with wireless streaming of content to smartphones, tablets and laptops. Stage on demand helps entertain passengers through its massive library of more than 1,100+ Hollywood digital rights management (DRM)-protected movies and TV shows, over half of which are available in high definition. With the inclusion of connectivity, real time updates with Stage on demand also enable passengers to stay informed through its business news, weather and sports feeds, along with destination and event information.

Content is selected by flight departments from a frequently updated cloud-based media catalogue, and is available in multiple languages, including exclusive OSN Premium Arabic TV Programming. In addition to this content, with JX connectivity passengers have access to checking email, surfing the internet, checking social media and much more.

“The business aviation market in Africa has really grown in recent years, which makes this first installation so exciting for our team,” said JP Rivet, director of marketing/business development in EMEA for Rockwell Collins. “We look forward to helping even more VIP passengers in this region enjoy the same entertainment options in the air that they do on the ground.”
