MSB Design to open engineering facility in Savannah

Hard on the heels of this year's NBAA, MSB Design, the Boucherville, QC precision engineering company has announced it is to open a production facility in Savannah, Georgia, USA. The announcement demonstrates its commitment to the US market, and the need to serve its growing, local American customer base.

The facility will house manufacturing capabilities to produce the company's range of more than 25 Hi-Lo tables, tailor-made crystal, china and flatware inserts, cabin interior monuments, and bespoke items. Veteran MSB employee Mr. Stephane Germain, operation director, will oversee the equipment installation, recruitment for and running of, the business

Installation of equipment including two computer numerical controlled (CNC), machines, a full cutting room and a mechanical assembly section will begin in Q1 of 2017. Once fully operational the team will consist of experienced MSB employees, as well as newly recruited technicians, who will be responsible for manufacturing and delivering to the US market. It is anticipated that the MSB USA facility, will mirror operations at the Boucherville headquarters, but on a slightly smaller scale to begin with.

The decision to commit to a manufacturing facility follows the opening of MSB's first international office in Savannah in January this year, and has been made in response to increased recognition of the company's expertise. “We had such high demand from the US aviation market for MSB's technical expertise in producing the tailor-made inserts (CCF), the wide range of Hi-Lo tables, and increasingly customized pieces, that we really needed to be producing items locally,” explains Shannon Gill, business development director. “The process of producing these highly engineered pieces requires close liaison with the client and having a presence in the US supports this. Being on the ground, and close, is a real value-add for both sides of the arrangement.”

When fully operational the two locations will give MSB Design a strong presence in both the north and south of North America. “We selected Savannah as it is close to our office, but more importantly it is close to our key client. It positions us at the heart of this growing aviation community,” concludes Gill.
