Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co., has announced that the patented SmartStem wireless tire pressure measurement system recently received supplemental type certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for use on Gulfstream aircraft registered in the United States.

This is the first time SmartStem has been certified for use on Gulfstream business jets. Operators of seven different Gulfstream models can now realize the savings in money and time that the SmartStem system provides. This certification covers the 350, 450, 500, 550, GIV-X, GV, and GV-SP models.

“With nearly 2,000 aircraft currently in service, supplemental type certification for Gulfstream business jets represents an exciting opportunity for SmartStem,” said Rick Jones, senior vice president, sensing & utility systems for Crane. “This STC demonstrates FAA support for a product that promotes tire safety and operational efficiency, while enabling us to support our growing customer demand for SmartStem.”
