On 9 November, 2005 Embraer introduced the Phenom 100, having started development work in April of that year. It has an oval fuselage with capacity for up to seven passengers and a single pilot. It is fitted with two rear mounted FADEC Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617-F turbofan engines, each offering 1,615 lbf.
The Phenom 100 first flew on 26 July, 2007 and was awarded a type certificate from Brazil's National Civil Aviation Authority on 9 December, 2008. FAA certification was given the same year and the first aircraft was delivered on 24 December, 2008.
In 2014 Embraer began deliveries of an improved variant, the Phenom 100E. Updates included multifunction spoilers, a Prodigy flight deck and more capable brake-by-wire software, as well as PW617E-F engines.
The first Phenom 100EV entered service in March 2017, offering weight savings, an increase in thrust and an updated flight deck. It is powered by the same PW617F1-E engines, and overall the aircraft displays improved hot and high performance with more range and a faster climb.
October 2023 sees the introduction of the Phenom 100EX, sporting an all-new interior that is roomier and 190 pounds lighter than previous iterations. The open-concept cockpit offers greater pilot leg room and houses more avionics safety features as part of its Garmin Prodigy Touch system, including a Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System (ROAAS); a Flight Stream 510 wireless gateway that allows the pilot to connect portable devices; automatic 3D volumetric scanning radar with lightning and hail prediction; stabilised approach; and predictive windshear.
As of October 2023, the Phenom 100EX is ANAC, FAA and EASA certified and the first delivery will occur by the end of the year.
